As my team and I walked down the main street of our neighborhood in San Salvador my heart broke. The amount of struggling dogs shocked me.

I think about my sweet puppy at home, enjoying the air conditioning, being fed twice a day, getting groomed every month and being loved on constantly.
The dogs I encountered here had matted hair and have been neglected and starved to the point of them walking around limping or lying dead in the street.

As my heart broke for these dogs, God convicted me and revealed to me that the way these dogs are neglected and starving, so are his people being neglected and starving for His presence, love and word.

“What would happen if you cared more about my children who are hungry and starving for my presence, than for these starving dogs?” -God

John 15: 1-8
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you. This is to my Father’s glory that you will bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

As I walked down the main street of our neighborhood in San Salvador, my heart broke for God’s people.

He showed me that I have been pruned of most everything I had; family, comfort, luxuries, relationships and common language but I have absolutely everything I need because I am attached to the vine.

I have been called to remain in Him, His word remain in me, to bear fruit and to connect others to Him.

John 6: 48-51
“I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the mana in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone can eat and not die. I am the the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

God’s people are hungry and it’s time for them to eat!
