Dear Mom,

I don’t think words can do justice to how thankful I am for you, but I’ll give it a try.

I am who I am today because of you. Because of the way you raised me to love the Lord and because of the example you (and Dad!) set for me.

Thank you for all the times you let God use you, even when it was scary. For letting Dad go to Central Asia at the last minute. For supporting me throughout this trip. For packing up your bags and coming to Africa in February.

Thank you for showing me how to trust the Lord with your finances. For allowing me to attend Christian schools and Christian summer camps even when the money was stretched thin. Thank you for all the sacrifice that it took to allow me to have those experiences.

Thank you for showing me how to trust the Lord and listen to His voice.

Thank you for making church so important in our lives. And, for not simply attending church, but being invested. For taking on leadership roles and for stepping up and serving behind the scenes whenever necessary.

Thank you for also recognizing when you’ve taken on to much and enforcing healthy boundaries and for helping me realize my need to do the same.

Thank you for making our family a priority, and for making sure we grew up knowing our cousins. For making time together more important than things.

Thank you for the way you’ve exemplified a Godly marriage and given me a high standard. For showing me how a healthy marriage should bring you closer to Christ.

Thank you for buying me my dream dog when I was in first grade and for loving her for me even when she turned out to be neurotic.

Thank you for coaxing me out of your bathroom when I needed my shots growing up, and making sure I got the medicine I needed, even though it was hard for you.

Thank you for putting up with me when I called your food disgusting.

Thank you for reading to me as a child, and make reading series as a family a priority. And, for instilling in me a love of reading.

Thank you for being open to new ideas and helping me be open minded as well.

Thank you for allowing me to pursue my interests. For letting me try the flute, even when you knew that I shouldn’t. For coming to all my soccer games and musicals. For helping with makeup and sets.

Thank you for waking up extra early and going out of your way to drive me to school and early morning soccer conditioning freshman year.

Thank you for supporting me unconditionally throughout this journey. For always being willing to help me unlock my bank account or add flight miles to my account when I haven’t been able to. And for supporting my squadmates, when they’ve needed assistance.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these things and for so much more.

I love you.

Happy 25th Mother’s Day (a few days late)!

Love, Paige
