Mom Has Cancer: 2
The Last time that I wrote about my mom having cancer I share what she was going through and what I was going through while being 7,000 miles away.
So, here goes some more of that…
My mom had to have a bone scan to see if the cancer had spread to the bone. Waiting for those results was the longest 24 hours of my life. It felt like seconds lasted minutes and hours lasted days. Finally, I got the news from my sister; the bone scan came back NEGATIVE!!! Which in medical terms is a great thing. I finally got the news and it felt like the 1st time that I breathed in 24 hours. Thank you God.
Chemo is never fun and it has been hard on her. She is beginning to lose her hair, but that’s what comes with chemo. My Grandma (her mom) has come down from Indiana to help her in anything that she needs and to simply be with her. Mom is getting taken care of really well and I’m so thankful for that.
They told my mom about this other option of treatment after her chemo is finished in July. It’s an antibody that apparently is the best thing that has come out to fight cancer in the last 20 years. It’s an injection that works like chemo but isn’t chemo. The side effects are extremely minimal and it has to be scheduled months in advance, so the doctors are beginning to schedule it now so that she will be ready for the injection right when her chemo sessions are over.
The Lord has given me a peace that I can’t explain. God is calming me at every turn and he continues to remind me that all of this in the palm of his hand. That is really hard to remember and eve harder to accept when we are in the midst of a difficult time, but it doesn’t make it less true.
Psalm 40 says it pretty well.
4. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust…
17. Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. Yu are my help and my deliverer; Oh my God, do not delay.
So please continue to pray with me for my mom. I refuse to stop praying and I hope that you will join me in that.
Cancer is name, but there is a name above all names, and than name is Jesus.
