Our travels yesterday were refreshingly smooth – no getting lost and no car trouble! Thank you for your prayers!
We arrived here at Higher Ground Coffee Shop yesterday about 7pm and were welcomed by 5 or 6 Americans and 1 Guatemalan!!! Higher Ground is a coffee shop, church, and home to Abner and Alex. It exists to encourage and reach the local English-Speaking community here in Antigua – a surprisingly large group! They have comforts from home like espresso and Dr. Pepper!!! They also hold contemporary, multi-denominational, English services on Thursdays, Sundays, and prayer meetings on Tuesday. And movie nights on Friday!!!
After we arrived they showed us to our “room.” The church. The church is four cement walls, a tile floor, a stage, and an open tin roof! It´s such a blessing from God to be able to sleep here for free, but man was it cold! I never would have guessed I would be shivering in Guatemala!
This afternoon Abner will arrive and we will begin to plan our ministry with him and the orphanage or hospital or street ministry. We will also take a few days of much needed rest after the chaos of Panajachel!
