This is Elliott. He is 24 years old and he is our God sent angel…actually he is our translator for Guatemala. We met Elliott while ministering in Teapa. His mother goes to the church of the Pastor that we were staying with and he goes to a neighboring church. He is in school studying English and dreams of being around Americans to improve his English.
He has been a Christian for 6 years and ever since he became a Christian he has wanted to do mission work, but never knew how he would be able to do that, but he knew that if it was God’s plan for him, that He would make that possible.
The first time I met Elliott was on one of our “off” days in Teapa when Jessica needed her camera fixed, so he volunteered to take us into town and see if he could help us. We spent all day with him and he continued on with how much he appreciated us letting him go with us and practice his English.
That night, he was in a very bad car accident. The car hit the shoulder and swerved, sending the car out of control and flipping several times. By the grace of God Elliott and everyone in the car walked away with only minor injuries.
While we were in Teapa he heard us talking about needing a translator for Guatemala and he jumped to the opportunity and said he wanted to go. Due to the fact that we didn’t know all of the logistics ourselves, we couldn’t tell him he could come with us.
Jessica and I both felt let to give him a card with 400 paso just to say thank you and bless him. So…we left him in Teapa and told him to work on his Visa and keep in touch by email and we would see.
On Tuesday I received and email saying that he was getting his Visa on Wednesday and would be here Thursday. Bummer… We are leaving very early Thursday and he wouldn’t be here before we left.
Wednesday morning I woke up, went to the Internet café and I sent him an email telling him how much we needed him, if he could get here before the end of the day (on Wednesday) he could go, but of not…we will have to leave him behind.
Praise God!!! At about 7pm I checked my email and had a message saying that he was getting on a bus at 9:15pm and would be here by 11:45pm, all we have to do is get him from the bus station.
He had no money for the bus I know…but because Jessica and I were obedient to the Lord and what He laid on our heart, he was able to get here with that money we gave him.
So…here he is…here we are…we are off to Guatemala to minister and are excited about what the Lord has in store and planned for us.
God is so good. The way He works things out is not always the way we want or have in mind, but it’s always Perfect!!!!
He is an answer to prayer for us and we are an answer to prayer for him. We are so excited to see what the Lord has in store…come expecting is what the Lord has laid on our hearts.
