At 6am this morning it all started…the race was on!!!! Our shuttle came to pick us up at our hotel, we then made some rounds to get other people and we were off at about 6:45am. We took a shuttle to the border, where we hopped on another shuttle and arrived in San Cristibal 10 hours later (thanks Dave for the “tip”…hahaha). Once we got there, we weren’t sure how we were going to get to Mexico City. We found the bus station and decided to make the dreaded 14 hour bus ride to Mexico City.

Up to this point our trip so far was uneventful…but what were we thinking???? We should of known something was coming.

We get off the bus in Mexico City and are told that the airport is 20 minutes away. So, we have the option to take a 5 minute taxi ride to the airport, or take a 20 minute subway to the airport, so we opted to jump on the subway…BIG mistake.

Just so you know…Mexicans are crazy. Do not ever take anything they say literal, they tend to way under exaggerated things. A 20 minute subway ride became more like a 40 minute. On top of things…the girls are carrying their weight plus more (in some cases…like me) in luggage on their back. We had to climb stairs, push our way on and off the subway, stand and stand and stand holding these masses on our back. I think all the girls were about to start crying…when we looked up and there were angels. Men that have carts and will carry our luggage. Praise the Lord!!!! So we let them take our luggage to the International departure terminal.

We have a flight that leaves out March 1 for LA. We thought maybe that we would get here and be able to get on stand by and for sure be the first in LA.

Come to find out, stand by is $50 more per person and we do not have that money, so it was time to make the Mexico airport our home…for 24 hours!!!!

A
fter walking around, enjoying Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, and heaven aka Starbucks. We decided to enjoy and make the most out of these 24 hours.

While all this is going on, we are of course talking about the strategies of the other teams and what they might be doing when what happens…we look up and there is
Red team!!! That’s right,
Red team is here and they are about to hop on a flight and get to LA TODAY. What? That is crazy!!!! We of course talk and try to get more info out of them and they try to get info out of us…none was successful. We tell them bye, wish them luck, and say see you in LA.

So…I am sitting here blogging when Laura comes and tells me
Blue team is here!!! What? First
Red, now
Blue. They are being very secretive about what they are doing and their plan, but we know that whoever gets on their flight first will be 2nd in LA…so it’s really on now.

We will continue to sit in our new home and pray that something happens with
Blue team and they we get on a flight before they do!!!!

CRAZY….CRAZY….CRAZY!!!!!

Until LA, this is Kim for the Brown Team.

Just FYI…this is what Friske is pointing to in the picture!!!!! 🙂

 Paul praying that the
Red and
Blue Team…okay really…the
Blue Team doesn’t beat us.
