Tanzania is the country we have spent the most time in on
the Race. After 5 weeks of ministry we have tons of stories to tell, but we’ll
sum it up as best we can…
We spent much of our time preaching at what was called “open-air
meetings.” Our team plus team Powerhouse
worked with 3 separate churches which sometimes made for very busy schedules.
Here Drew is preaching at Pastor Benjamin’s open air meeting…literally on the
side of a mountain.
These are some of the dancers that performed at an open air
meeting one evening. Even the very young ones are some of the best dancers
we’ve ever seen!
We also spent a lot of time working with children in
Tanzania. This is Erin’s best friend, Alfred. The first time they met, Erin
stuck out her hand to shake and Alfred came running, jumped, and hugged her
tight. Pretty obvious why he is her favorite.
This is a picture of what happens when you spend so much
time together on the Race. Believe it or not this was COMPLETELY un-planned!
The 7 of us woke up, got dressed, came out of our rooms, and realized we
were…well, kind of ridiculous.
Tanzania was a time of celebration too – Drew rang in his 25th birthday! At the end of his 3-day celebration,
all 5 teams in our area came together for a huge birthday dinner. We love you
Drew!
We also had the AMAZING opportunity to go on safari to the
Sarengeti! It was an unforgettable time with 20 other Racers as we were able to
experience God’s beautiful creation all together. Here are 2 of our favorites
from that day, a huge giraffe and a wild lion only a few feet (seriously!) from
our vehicle.
