My team has received our assignment for the next part of the race. We are headed towards the Carribean to the region including the cities of Puerto Barrios, Santiago, and Rio Dulce. It is about a 7 hour bus ride from Antigua. Once we are there we will meet up with a local contact and she will tell us what ministries are available. We could be working in a school, with a church, or with prison ministry. So far we will stay there for a week and then decide if we should come back to the Antigua area or stay there for the rest of the month.
The theme of the week for me seems to be selflessness. I am the only one on my team that is not excited about going to Puerto Barrios. I was hoping to go to Lake Atitlan to work with one of the schools and I am not looking forward to the intense heat. It will be a challenge for me to go into this next month with a positive attitude and not to think about the other teams that are at Lake Atitlan. I would really appreciate prayers that I would let go of my selfish desires and focus on the ministry at hand rather than on myself.
