The unexpected surprises of the World Race continue……
Last night we left Bangkok
around 7:30 pm in the back of a truck and headed to the bus station. Our bus to
Buriram left at 9:30, and we were scheduled to arrive in Buriram at 3:30 am. We
called our contact Roger as we were leaving to tell him what time to pick us up,
and this is what we were told. “Ok, I’ll be there to get you at 3:30, but you
all need to make sure you sleep on the bus because we’ll be getting up at 6:30 and leaving
the house by 7 because we’re painting a school in the morning.” WHAT?!?! Ya just gotta love this life! 🙂
So that’s exactly what happened. We got to Roger’s house by 4, slept a couple
hours, then piled in the truck and headed to the school. 5 soldiers from the
army base met us to help with the painting as well as several workers from the
school, and people from the local community.
They made a welcome banner
for us!

There are 4 other
girls staying at the house with us for a few days. Meet Emily and Ashley from Chicago…

and Allison and Katie
from Connecticut.

Lunch break with lots
of fun new food!

There were lots of
puppies around the school…so cute!

We painted from 8-4 and got about ½ the school done. We’ll
be going back tomorrow to finish the rest.
