I WILL FOLLOW YOU
These are the words to one of my favorite Chris Tomlin worship song, “I Will Follow!” I have sung these words a thousand times and every time I had prayed and telling God…YES I do want to follow You! I really do what to trust You in this.
This month that is exactly what we did! We followed!
This month in Romania we have had the privilege of doing what is called an ATL month. It stands for Ask The Lord! We didn’t have any contacts, a pastor or a church to guide us in a certain direction or ministry. We didn’t have a place set up for us to live or even a city that we had to stay in. It was us and God!
To some people…that sounds like the most ideal thing you could ever imagine! Letting the Spirit guide you and trusting 110% that God will provide and protect you! To the other sane people…this is the most terrifying experience you could ever encounter. You are going to entering a country where you don’t speak the language, you know nothing about and you have no one to point you in the right direction!
So what do you do?????
Well we prayed….A LOT! We asked God what HE had in store for us…where did He want us to go….what did He want us to do!
Let me tell you…that this was not easy for me! How am I supposed to HEAR from God!? What does God sound like?! How am I going to know if what I hear is from God or my own desires!?
I found out fast that I don’t have to have the answers! When I tell God that I will follow Him and love those He loves and moves when He wants me to move…then he knows that my fears and worries come along as well! He is asking me to just take that step! He showed me that I can hear from Him and He will let us know what He wants!
So Team Freedom Bound 3:17 took that step! We started praying while we were in Swaziland and asking God for what He wanted from us! These are just some of the things that we heard and felt God telling us…
Be ready for something NEW!!! Don’t confine yourself to a ministry that is ‘safe’ and ‘easy!” Look with NEW eyes! PRAY PRAY PRAY! We were chosen! FREEDOM! Just BE! Focus on the team…it will be a BIG month! God is our direction! Weeding out Satan!
We also have taken each morning to really pray into what the day will look like! We have learned some HUGE lessons! When you do ATL…you really can’t make a plan or schedule! We found that out multiple times! Some days you might just spend all day praying or you might need to spend the day with your team and remembering how much love and joy you all share! Then there will be days where you will walk around the city for hours and still not end up in the place where you wanted to go. Then there will be days that God literally drops ministry opportunities in your lap!
I would really like to BRAG on God with 3 specific ways God answered our prayers! When we first got to Romania… we felt like God was asking each of us TO FOLLOW and TO OBEY! What did that look like…we weren’t sure at first but we quickly realized that we were simply to FOLLOW the people that He placed in our lives!
So for the next 3 blogs I am going to introduce you to 4 very special people and the way we simply followed them around Romania!
