“I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
We were asked to write about our expectations before going on the World Race. To be honest, I’m expecting to be surprised often and to expect the unexpected! My hope is that this experience will be life changing and that I will see the Gospel magnified. I hope to see God move in ways that I have never experienced before and to see lives changed for His kingdom.
Things I will miss:
Singing, talking, laughing with my roommates
Being able to call home at any point during the day
What it feels like to be clean and comfortable
My Sunday school and precept classes
My family and friends
Driving 🙂
I expect to:
Learn what it looks like to physically, emotionally, spiritually surrender everything to the Lord
Be broken and humbled
Eat new foods, learn new languages
Make new friends
See and experience restoration
Live among the poor, powerless, sick, needy, helpless, faithless, faithful, joyful, loving, giving, trustworthy
Travel long distances using every form of transportation possible
Build lasting relationshipswith the friends I will meet in each place and to miss them when I have to leave
Sleep in tents, hostiles, churches, or homes
Learn to sit and listen to the voice of God
Learn what it means to be still and know that He is God
Learn how to embrace and appreciate the world around me
Serve, Love, and Laugh often
Understand and enjoy other cultures
See how God is active and working in places outside my “comfort zone”
Be in a place where I have to completely and totally rely on the Holy Spirit for strength, comfort, peace, and provision
Pray with anticipation
“Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think—according to the power that works in you—to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
I hope to see the name of Jesus increase around the world!
