Uganda, My Heart!
I came to Uganda with not a clue what to do,
Yet I fell into a deep love for you,
Oh, Uganda, my heart,
You have become home, oh so true!
New friends, nay new sisters and brothers,
Took us in and poured their hearts out
For six men and women of God
They knew very little about.
They provided and cared for us,
Indeed, became our close relatives
As they fight to love on us more
And show how Uganda gives.
Oh, a country tortured by the dark,
Yet light radiates so bright
Throughout the hearts of the faithful–
Even as they pray all night.
The country stole my heart–
Through the starknes of love and hate,
I came to see the truth of Christ
Within the confines of a stranger's state.
So, my heart, prepare to rise up–
The KIng comes to provide hope,
While the Spirit prepares the way
Along Heaven's railside rope.
Oh, Uganda, my love,
Sit awhile at the Son's throne
And be filled by the Spirit
To withstand the tremor of Hell's groan.
While you took me by surprise,
You got me from the start,
The entirety of my thoughts–
Not just in part.
Now, I tell you the truth,
Light radiates from all around
To fight back the darkness
And overwhelm the world with a joyous sound.
So, He smiles down from above,
As He loves you to pieces
For many plans flew to the press
To tell the enemy now he ceases.
My dear Uganda, stay strong!
Christ comes to lead and guide you,
So never back down from the fight,
Shine bright and stay oh so true!
Yes, my heart and love,
Now I can call you home,
While I laugh and pray to the King
For redemption stories to bless Rome.
My dear Uganda, my dear Uganda,
Arise and awaken,
For the Kingdom of God draws near
And His plans…never mistaken!
